We Are Learning As We Go

Yeah, the good old days for me are what they are. But at this stage in my life, I am happy to leave them in the past. All the good, the bad and the ugly. All the triumphs and mistakes alike.

Mistakes.

I’ve made my share. Haven’t you?

I think it’s understandable because none of us have done this before. It’s all new.

All brand new.

Each day, each step.

And because we are experiencing a lifetime of firsts, we are in a constant state of learning.

Like students, life students.

And students are not masters. They make mistakes.

But we’re all doing our best because that’s what good students do.

We might have to do a few re-do’s or retake a test or two.

Give yourself a break. Relax. Be kind to YOU.

You’re doing your best.

Keep learning.

It’s all useful on your life journey.

Mistakes Do Not Measure A Man

deeclarknz.comA man must be big enough to admit his mistakes,

Mistakes.

I’ve made a few.

There’s a gut wrenching moment when your attention is turned to the reality of a mistake. The “I wish I could crawl into a hole right now” feeling that seduces a desire to deny its existence. Denying, though tempting, is enslaving. Disappointing. Haunting.

Truth is where freedom from the mistake begins.

Freeing the embarrassment from lingering.

Freeing the opportunity to learn, grow, mature, correct.

The difficulty is believing my mistakes represent who I am.

But they don’t.

They only represent what I did, at a given moment, with the knowledge, skill, and ability I had at the time.

Knowledge can be increased.

Skill can be learned or gained.

Ability can be improved.

And I can use all those to do better.

Owning my mistakes, learning from them and correcting them…are the true measures of a man (or woman, in my case).

hugs are so comforting!

well, i’m giving myself a hug from my sisters. they are a safe place for my heart.

and after i blundered a while ago by messing my blog up on my mobile phone…I needed one. 😉

it made me realize that we are gonna put our best foot forward and fall flat on our faces sometimes.

when we do:
1. Grab a hug from someone you love.
2. Assure yourself that the action failed- you are not a failure.
3. Get back on the horse, so to speak- and try again.
4. Learn so you don’t hit the wrong button next time!
5. Relax…most mistakes can be corrected!

Now, I’m going to go play with my grand kids and forget that I just made a fool of myself in front of thousands of readers!

Blushing,
D
