The reward of a thing well done is having done it. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Mr. Emerson is completely correct but this girl likes a little bit of a reward now and then.
Every summer when it’s time to take a couple of weeks away from our business, my choice is here beside the Clutha River in Albertown, New Zealand. This is my favorite spot for quiet respite –my idea of the perfect reward.
The first week, I sit beside the rumbling water for hours just reading in the warmth of the sun.
The second week, I am ready to do a few things.
The big effort for the week is to climb Mt Iron.
The satisfaction and reward is definitely in doing the climb.
Well, ok, I must admit: the view at the top is spectacularly rewarding, too.
There are beautiful mountain-bike and hiking trails.
In nearby Wanaka, I enjoy browsing the shops and galleries
then stopping by the coffee or pizza shop as a reward for all my camp cooking.
And if we have been extra good…you know really deserving…
we might even be rewarded by seeing a rainbow.
Yeah, I know, it’s not really a reward but sitting there staring at it, it kind of feels like one.

I loved driving through that picturesque area although we only stopped briefly as we headed for Queenstown. Seeing your pictures, I now wish that we’d stay longer. Next trip. That rainbow photo is my favorite!

Queenstown is fabulous as well but my favorite is Wanake. It is definitely worth the effort to visit. It’s just majestically beautiful and I love that it is a bit more quiet than Queenstown. Queenstown is a must when you are feeling adventurous.
Thank you for reading!

I loved sharing your day with you! Those pictures were great – the scenery was gorgeous and I loved the storyline as you got further into the post.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I couldn’t figure out how you found me until I found this post. Duh! I’m so used to visiting others, but don’t get quite as many back it seems.

It is heaven for a couple of quiet weeks for me…It’s quite the reward for all the craziness we go through building our business almost 24/7. I love it! Thank you, Anna, for stopping by and for commenting. It’s so nice to hear from you!
Have a great weekend.

It’s often the way. I have seen really magical places and photographed them only to find that the ‘magic’ is missing from the photo.
There really is no substitute for ‘being there’. 😊
